Navy blue Harris Tweed slimline crossbody bag with embroidered Loughtan sheep in Shocking Pink.
There’s not always a need to carry a large bag around with us – when we are out shopping for example or at a party. This lovely soft, unstructured bag – which can be used as a shoulder bag or a crossbody – is the perfect size to put your phone, cards and other essentials in when you are out and about.
It’s made from navy blue Harris Tweed and embroidered with our native rare breed sheep here on the Isle of Man – the Loughtan. (Although I have to say they are not usually pink!)
It measures approximately 9 inches (23 cms) high by 8 inches (20 cms) wide and is lined with 100% cotton in a toning blue floral pattern. (Except for the bright pink contrast in the front pocket!)
It closes by means of a simple magnetic closure on the flap which also secures the slip pocket on the front (ideal to put your parking ticket) and the contents (there’s another slip pocket inside too for cards, receipts etc)
The strap (made by me) is adjustable and is made of leather with matching webbing reinforcement on the back (a trick I pinched from a well-known bag designer!) This means it is extra strong and does not stretch. It is around 60 inches long and features two little silver tone heart shaped rivets.
It is a bit of an inter-Island collaboration really as it was made by me here on the Isle of Man from world famous Harris Tweed woven by a weaver on the Isle of Lewis.
So what have I been up to lately? You’ll find some lovely summer bags on the site and also some cute phone pouches which are ideal when you want to carry a little more than your phone and a card or two. These are great - and I plan to make lots more!
I've also been using more Ukranian Embroidery designs on bags. This one is my latest in black leather with an adjustable strap.
I've also been experimenting with Needlefelting and this lovely Kindle case is the result.
By the way, if you are a visitor you might like to know that everything on my site can be purchased online and shipped to your home address.
(If you live outside the UK you may wish to contact me first - overseas postage can be prohibitive these days so best to talk about it first.
FOOTNOTE: You may have noticed that most of my items are marked 'one only'.
This is because everything I make is handmade - and handcut - from the bottom up! I make what I love and hope you will too!
