On Ravensdale Hill is a 16 minute performance poem. The first half takes place during one long, dark, night of the soul. Here, the fallen Phoenix grapples to make sense of the devastating consequences of the Raven’s betrayal and theft. The second half describes the repercussions of the Phoenix’s final, desperate decision. This swiftly builds towards the dramatic climax of TaTaTaboo – Jackie’s winning poem at the 2017 Manx Litfest Poetry Slam.

Ravensdale is the area around Ballaugh Plantation in the Isle of Man. Ravensdale Hill is a fictional name for the steep hillside heading up Ballacobb from The Forgotten Valley at Glen Dhoo. The concept for On Ravensdale Hill, along with its poems and performance, came from many solitary walks taken around these areas.
