On Ravensdale Hill by Jackie Morrey-Grace

Hi, I’m Jackie Morrey-Grace, author of 2 poetic epics, On Ravensdale Hill and Asila’s Song. I’ve been a writer since 2014 and a poet and performance artist since 2017. I have been crowned Manx Litfest Poetry Slam Champ 3 times – in 2017, 2020 and 2021, and have also received a first prize and several runner-up/ commended prizes in the Olive Lamming writing competitions and Manx Litfest Short Story Slams. As well as this, I am co-founder of original spoken word theatrical initiative, Penny Productions. Penny’s aim is to celebrate and push our awesome local spoken word scene to theatrical excellence through collaborative and experimental, non-competitive adventures.

I organise events and also perform everywhere from festivals and book launches, to schools, theatres, murder mysteries, charity events, poetic pop-ups, street and market busking, and open mics. I have also performed as a feature artist internationally via Zoom, and at festivals home and away as a trombonist and occasional rap artist. ‘Turning Glass,’ my musical project with friend Jo Thorn, have released 2 songs – The Wildness of Birds and Stardust.
