Monkey Puzzle bowls are very exclusive as the wood is very hard to come by. This particular piece was from a tree felled in Ramsey a number of years ago. It had been left to dry before being turned. Monkey Puzzle is striking and unusual because the branches grow in rings and this reflects in the patterns around and inside the bowl.

Mark got his love of wood from growing up on a farm in Northern Ireland and spending a lot of his time in the forests and countryside.

Moving to the Isle of Man over 20 years ago, he began working as a tree surgeon and his inspiration to create out of the wood he cut down began to grow! And so it began, over the years it has developed into woodturning, wall hangings, sculpture and bespoke furniture.

He now has a ‘mountain’ of native Manx woods including, elm, yew, laburnum, cherry and many, many more! All waiting in the various stages of readiness to turn into beautiful unique pieces of art
