This piece of sycamore is from a tree felled in Foxdale, Isle of Man and dried out over a number of years.
Even after I used the process of waxing and dyeing this is a totally unique piece still showing through the natural beauty of this wood
Dye I have used is a purple colour
The Sycamore tree is a large tree with maple shaped leaves.
Size of the bowl is approx 22cm diametre
and 9cm in height
Weight approx 0.46

Mark got his love of wood from growing up on a farm in Northern Ireland and spending a lot of his time in the forests and countryside.

Moving to the Isle of Man over 20 years ago, he began working as a tree surgeon and his inspiration to create out of the wood he cut down began to grow! And so it began, over the years it has developed into woodturning, wall hangings, sculpture and bespoke furniture.

He now has a ‘mountain’ of native Manx woods including, elm, yew, laburnum, cherry and many, many more! All waiting in the various stages of readiness to turn into beautiful unique pieces of art
